LAKE ARTIFACT

Cinemavixion Review

Bruce Wemple's 'Lake Artifact' plunges viewers into a chilling psychological thriller, set against the seemingly idyllic backdrop of an Upstate New York cabin getaway. The film masterfully explores the disintegration of friendship as a mysterious phenomenon warps time and space, turning a weekend escape into a descent into paranoia and mutual suspicion. Thomas Brazzle, Catharine Daddario, and Anna Shields deliver compelling performances, embodying the escalating fear and distrust that consumes the group. Wemple crafts a narrative that is as intellectually engaging as it is viscerally unsettling, probing the fragility of human relationships under extreme duress. While the film may not boast a wide array of accolades, its tight direction and atmospheric tension offer a thought-provoking, unsettling cinematic experience that lingers long after the credits roll.
