Steve Sekely's "Lady in the Death House" presents a compelling, albeit brief, dive into the dark corridors of crime and psychology. Released in 1944, this film noir-tinged drama plunges us into the final hours of Mary Kirk Logan, a woman condemned to the electric chair for a murder she insists she didn't commit. The narrative skillfully intertwines her fate with that of Dr. Bradford, her fiancé and the state's executioner, whose experimental work with reviving tissue adds a layer of morbid fascination. Jean Parker delivers a performance fraught with tension, while Lionel Atwill as the psychologist Charles Finch provides a steady hand guiding the audience through the unfolding mystery.
