Cinemavixion Review

In "La morte ha fatto l'uovo," Giulio Questi directs a chilling exploration of desire and destruction set against the stark backdrop of a modern poultry factory. The film masterfully intertwines a complex love triangle involving Jean-Louis Trintignant as the factory director, his domineering wife (Gina Lollobrigida), and the alluring, free-spirited cousin (Ewa Aulin). What begins as a study in repressed passion quickly devolves into a labyrinth of deceit, manipulation, and ultimately, murder. Questo's direction is unflinching, capturing the psychological tension and the primal undercurrents of the characters' relationships. Lollobrigida delivers a commanding performance, while Trintignant embodies a man caught between suffocating obligation and liberating temptation. The film’s unsettling atmosphere and its sharp critique of bourgeois repression make it a compelling, albeit dark, cinematic experience that lingers long after the credits roll.
