KING EDWARD I: THE BRUTAL 'HAMMER OF THE SCOTS'

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the complex and often brutal reign of King Edward I, aptly nicknamed the 'Hammer of the Scots'. Born into a turbulent England, Edward's early life was shaped by the political instability inherited from his grandfather, King John, and the civil strife of his father's time. His participation in the ill-fated Crusade to the Holy Land offered a glimpse into his martial prowess and the challenges he faced on a larger stage. Edward's legacy is a tapestry woven with threads of administrative achievement and ruthless policy, most notably the expulsion of England's Jewish population. His relentless ambition to conquer Scotland left an indelible mark on history, solidifying his image as a formidable, if severe, monarch. The film offers a compelling look at the man behind the legend, exploring the duality of his rule.
