KILLING POE

Cinemavixion Review

"Killing Poe" emerges as a darkly comedic take on student-teacher dynamics, delving into the twisted realm of Edgar Allan Poe's influence. The film centers on five students who, pushed to their limits by an abusive professor, concoct a plan to teach him a lesson in true Poe fashion. What begins as a calculated act of revenge, however, spirals into chaos, forcing the students to confront the unsettling truths that lie beneath their scheme. Directed by Nathan Andrew Jacobs, this 2016 release, starring Matt Bush, Osric Chau, and Julianna Guill, offers a unique blend of humor and psychological unease. Despite its modest reception, indicated by a 7.2 rating on IMDb and two wins alongside ten nominations, "Killing Poe" attempts to explore themes of retribution and the often-blurred lines between admiration and obsession. Viewers seeking a quirky, genre-bending comedy with a literary edge might find this an intriguing, albeit unconventional, watch.
