KILLING JOAN

Cinemavixion Review

Todd Bartoo's "Killing Joan" plunges viewers into a gritty underworld where Joan, a formidable enforcer portrayed with fierce intensity by Jamie Bernadette, finds herself betrayed. The film skillfully blends elements of crime thriller and supernatural vengeance, as Joan, left for dead, returns with otherworldly powers to exact retribution. The narrative explores themes of redemption and the corrupting influence of power, both earthly and arcane. While the plot takes a turn towards the supernatural, it remains grounded in Joan's primal quest for justice. The supporting cast, including Teo Celigo and Erik Aude, effectively flesh out this dark world. Despite its modest IMDb rating, the film's unique premise and Bernadette's compelling performance make it a noteworthy, albeit bleak, exploration of vengeance and the fight for one's soul.
