KILLERS

Cinemavixion Review

Mike Mendez's 1996 thriller "Killers" plunges viewers into a dark narrative of escaped convicts Kyle and Odessa James, whose pursuit of freedom takes a sinister turn when they hold a seemingly ordinary family hostage. The film masterfully blurs the lines between predator and prey, revealing the unexpected depths of the captives and the chilling reality of the captors' notoriety. Mendez crafts a tense atmosphere, amplified by the performances of Dave Larsen and David Gunn as the titular killers. While the film may not boast mainstream accolades, its gritty portrayal of psychological games and the unraveling of idealized domesticity offers a compelling, albeit disturbing, cinematic experience that invites reflection on the nature of evil and the masks people wear.
