KIDS, KNIVES & BROKEN LIVES: THE KNIFE CRIME EPIDEMIC IN THE UK

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary plunges viewers into the heart of the UK's knife crime epidemic, offering a raw and unfiltered perspective directly from the young people involved. Moving beyond the pronouncements of politicians and pundits, the film ventures onto the streets of London, Manchester, and Bradford to capture the authentic voices of those who carry weapons. It delves into the complex motivations behind this escalation, exploring the significance of territory, respect, and revenge in the lives of these youths. The documentary unflinchingly examines the accessibility of lethal weapons and the difficulty of escaping the cycle of violence. While presenting a disturbing reality, it also unearths glimmers of hope, offering an intimate portrayal of modern Britain as seen through the eyes of its teenage urban population. It's a critical look at a challenging social issue, providing a unique geography of perceived threats and no-go areas, and questioning the efficacy of current interventions.
