KENNETH

Cinemavixion Review

Peter Anthony Farren's "Kenneth" presents a darkly comedic and surreal dive into the psyche of its titular character, a man whose life unravels with alarming speed. Fired from his job due to "raging apathy," Kenneth finds himself not only grappling with unemployment and a girlfriend whose behavior grows increasingly erratic but also with a malevolent creature that manifests in his vision alone. The external data suggests this creature has sinister plans, adding a layer of supernatural dread to Kenneth's already precarious existence. Adding to the chaos is the unexpected arrival of Peter, a fugitive tramp who becomes Kenneth's confidant. The film appears to explore themes of friendship, mental health, and the absurdities of modern life, as Kenneth must navigate a minefield of his own making, battling his inner demons, external threats, and the police. With a runtime of 72 minutes, "Kenneth" promises a concise yet potent exploration of a man at his breaking point. While not widely recognized with major awards, its IMDb rating of 7.5 suggests a compelling narrative that resonates with viewers, offering a unique blend of fantasy, drama, and dark humor from the United Kingdom.
