JUMBO: DAVID ATTENBOROUGH ON THE TRAGIC LIFE OF THE SUPERSTAR ELEPHANT

Cinemavixion Review

David Attenborough, a voice synonymous with the natural world, turns his investigative lens towards a truly extraordinary creature in "Jumbo: David Attenborough On The Tragic Life Of The Superstar Elephant." This documentary delves into the captivating existence of Jumbo, an elephant who achieved unprecedented global fame in the 19th century, becoming a true animal celebrity. Attenborough masterfully pieces together the narrative, exploring how Jumbo's story may have even inspired beloved fictional tales. However, the film does not shy away from the darker undercurrents of Jumbo's life, revealing a poignant and often brutal reality of abuse, exploitation, and a mysterious demise that stands in stark contrast to his public adoration. It's a compelling examination of fame, exploitation, and the often-unseen struggles of those thrust into the spotlight, even those with four legs.
