JONATHAN BUTLER | LIVE PERFORMANCE | AFRICA SOUNDSTAGE

Cinemavixion Review

Jonathan Butler's 'Africa Soundstage' performance is a profound journey into the heart of South African music. Recorded in 2012 and directed by Frank Corona, this unplugged session showcases Butler's mastery of blending jazz, R&B, and gospel into a uniquely soulful sound. Beyond the Grammy-nominated artistry, the performance is elevated by Butler's personal anecdotes, which offer an intimate glimpse into his life's work and the rich cultural tapestry that inspires him. The series, featuring collaborators like Andy Allo and the evocative sounds of Kenge Kenge, truly captures the spirit of African musical heritage through both heartfelt renditions and compelling narratives. It's a testament to the enduring power of music to connect and tell stories.
