JOCKEY SMITH: ARCH-THIEF AND ARMED ROBBER

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary plunges into the dark underbelly of Australian crime, focusing on the notorious figure of Jockey Smith. Over three decades, Smith became a symbol of terror, a gunman whose legend was forged at gunpoint. The narrative explores the psychology of a criminal who, despite his diminutive stature, wielded immense fear, often resorting to violence as his primary tool. The film paints a stark portrait of a man consumed by a 'small man syndrome,' whose desperate reach for a weapon became his defining, and ultimately destructive, characteristic. It's a compelling, albeit grim, examination of a life defined by violence and the impact such figures have on the societal landscape.
