JESUS KILLER: THE JIMMY MAKETTA STORY

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary plunges into the chilling events that terrorized a South African farming community between 2004 and 2005. Dubbed 'Jesus Killer: The Jimmy Maketta Story,' the film meticulously reconstructs a series of brutal attacks that, despite their devastating impact on local families, largely escaped national media attention and were initially under-resourced by law enforcement. Through poignant interviews with survivors, dedicated local journalists, and the investigators who eventually pieced together the horrifying narrative, the documentary sheds light on the complex tapestry of social issues at play. It critically examines the delayed official response and powerfully illustrates the remarkable resilience of a community left to grapple with unimaginable violence. The film serves as a somber and unforgettable reminder of how societal silence and systemic neglect can tragically pave the way for unspeakable horror.
