JESSE

Cinemavixion Review

Nassau County detective Jesse takes center stage in this gritty 2011 crime thriller, a role essayed with fiery conviction by Stephanie Finochio. When her brother's murder and her mother's brutalization shatter her world, Jesse transforms from law enforcer to vigilante, plunging into the corrupt underbelly of Long Island. Director Fred Carpenter crafts a relentless narrative, drawing comparisons to classic revenge tales like 'Death Wish.' The film excels in its portrayal of a woman driven by a potent mix of grief and justice, navigating a dangerous landscape where crime and corruption intertwine. While the plot delves into familiar territory, Finochio's performance, alongside the solid support from William Forsythe and Armand Assante, anchors the film's raw intensity. It's a compelling exploration of vengeance and the moral compromises one makes when confronting profound injustice.
