IT'S LOVE AGAIN

Cinemavixion Review

Victor Saville's "It's Love Again" (1936) offers a delightful blend of mistaken identity and romantic comedy, anchored by the effervescent Jessie Matthews. The film cleverly navigates the world of 1930s journalism and burgeoning stardom, as Matthews' aspiring actress Elaine Bradford assumes the persona of the fictional socialite "Mrs. Smythe-Smythe" to gain notoriety. Robert Young provides a charming counterpoint as the gossip columnist Peter Carlton, who unwittingly creates the very character Elaine embodies. The narrative sparkles with witty dialogue and Matthews' signature musical and comedic talents, making for an engaging and lighthearted cinematic experience that still holds its charm. It's a testament to the era's sophisticated charm and the enduring appeal of a well-crafted romantic entanglement.
