INVITED

Cinemavixion Review

Navin Ramaswaran's "Invited" (2024) plunges viewers into a chilling domestic drama that quickly escalates into a terrifying ordeal. The film centers on a mother's attendance at her daughter's Zoom elopement, a seemingly modern union that unravels into a nightmare when the groom's sinister connection to a Russian cult is revealed. Starring Martina Schabron, Beáta Imre, and Elena Zavet, the movie effectively builds suspense, drawing audiences into the escalating dread experienced by the unsuspecting family. Despite its modest runtime, "Invited" delivers a potent dose of psychological horror, exploring themes of deception and dangerous ideologies within the intimate setting of a family gathering. The film's taut narrative and unsettling premise make it a compelling watch for fans of suspenseful thrillers with a dark, cultish twist.
