Thomas Smugala's "Interviewing Monsters and Bigfoot" offers a refreshingly dark and witty take on the found-footage genre, blending elements of revenge thriller with quirky creature-feature comedy. Les Stroud, stepping away from his survivalist persona, delivers a compelling performance as Cory Mathis, a professor consumed by grief and obsession after a supposed encounter with a mythical beast. His unlikely partnership with Stacy Brown Jr.'s Big Foot hunter provides much of the film's comedic thrust, driven by their contrasting approaches to the legend. The inclusion of comedian Tom Green as a forest ranger adds another layer of unexpected humor, though his character's subplot with a serial hoaxer and government agency feels somewhat extraneous to the core narrative. Despite a few narrative tangents, the film builds to a genuinely shocking conclusion, making it a memorable and unconventional watch for those seeking something beyond the typical monster movie.
