INSPECTOR HORNLEIGH GOES TO IT

Cinemavixion Review

Walter Forde's "Inspector Hornleigh Goes To It" offers a capably executed entry into the British detective genre, serving as the final cinematic outing for its titular investigator. Gordon Harker reprises his role, bringing a weary gravitas to the part, ably supported by Alastair Sim, whose presence invariably elevates any production. The narrative unfolds with the brisk pacing characteristic of wartime thrillers, weaving a compelling mystery that keeps the audience engaged. While perhaps not groundbreaking, the film succeeds through its solid direction, effective performances, and a plot that, despite its era, retains a certain charm. For fans of classic British crime dramas, this installment provides a satisfying conclusion to the Hornleigh saga, showcasing the era's particular brand of suspense and character-driven storytelling.
