INSIDE BRITAIN'S LAST SURVIVING SECOND WORLD WAR-ERA SUBMARINE | HMS ALLIANCE

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a fascinating glimpse into the HMS Alliance, a Royal Navy submarine with a distinguished service history spanning the late Second World War and the Cold War. The vessel, completed in 1947, holds the unique distinction of being the sole surviving A-class submarine, a testament to its technological significance and enduring legacy. Its 28-year career included a remarkable world record for the longest dive, remaining submerged for an astonishing 30 days in 1947. Guided by submarine veteran Commodore Eric Thompson, and accompanied by Dan Snow, the tour delves into the preserved interior of the HMS Alliance. Now a memorial and museum ship since 1981, located at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport, it serves as a poignant reminder of naval history and the lives of those who served aboard these complex machines.
