INDIA'S IDENTITY IN TURMOIL

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a stark and essential examination of the tumultuous period following India's independence in 1947. It masterfully navigates the seismic shift from British rule to partition, a division that tragically cleaved the subcontinent into two nations along religious lines. The narrative poignantly highlights the profound shockwaves sent through the nascent nation by the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, the 'father of the Indian nation,' just six months after independence. The film probes the deeply ingrained, conflicting ideologies that culminated in this act of violence, perpetrated by a Hindu nationalist. Through this lens, 'India's Identity in Turmoil' unravels the complex and enduring impact of these events on the very fabric of India's identity and its nascent political landscape, encouraging viewers to grapple with the forces that shaped a modern nation.
