INDIA - NO COUNTRY FOR WOMEN

Cinemavixion Review

Jon Sistiaga's documentary, "INDIA - NO COUNTRY FOR WOMEN," plunges into the grim realities faced by women in India, starkly contrasting the nation's economic prowess with its deeply entrenched issues of gender-based violence and discrimination. The film unflinchingly portrays a society where female fetuses are aborted, women are trafficked into sex slavery at alarmingly young ages, and brutal cultural traditions lead to horrific acts of violence, including acid attacks and gang rapes, often without consequence. Sistiaga guides viewers through a seldom-seen, 'savage and archaic' India, deliberately eschewing the polished facades often presented in tourist brochures or at international summits. This documentary serves as a powerful, albeit disturbing, exposé, urging viewers to confront the pervasive injustices that persist beneath the surface of a rapidly developing nation.
