INDEPENDENTS' DAY

Cinemavixion Review

Despite its modest production and a title that playfully echoes a blockbuster classic, 'Independents' Day' (2016) offers a serviceable slice of sci-fi action. Directed by Laura Beth Love, the film pits humanity against an alien force with a stark ultimatum. While the narrative treads familiar ground, the ensemble cast, including Fay Gauthier and Sal Landi, navigates the interstellar crisis with earnest performances. The film's runtime of 91 minutes ensures a brisk pace, making it an accessible watch for fans of alien invasion thrillers. Though critical reception, as indicated by its IMDb rating, may be lukewarm, 'Independents' Day' provides a straightforward escape, fulfilling its genre obligations with a focus on the tension between trust and fear in the face of extraterrestrial contact.
