IN THE NAME OF BEN HUR

Cinemavixion Review

Mark Atkins' "In the Name of Ben Hur" (2016) is a direct-to-video action film that attempts to leverage the legacy of its more famous namesake for a new narrative. Starring Jonno Davies, Adrian Bouchet, and Peter Ormond, the film follows a retired gladiator who aids young vigilantes in their fight against Roman occupation. While the premise offers potential for historical action, the film's execution, as suggested by its low IMDb rating of 2.7/10, appears to fall short of audience expectations. Despite its ambition, "In the Name of Ben Hur" struggles to distinguish itself, offering a viewing experience that is likely to appeal only to the most dedicated fans of the genre or those seeking a low-budget interpretation of ancient conflicts.
