IN THE EXECUTIONER'S SHADOW

Cinemavixion Review

Maggie Stogner's documentary, "In the Executioner's Shadow," delves into the deeply divisive issue of capital punishment with a nuanced and humanistic approach. By presenting the perspectives of an executioner, a victim's family grappling with the concept of justice, and the poignant reality that innocent individuals are sometimes condemned, the film transcends mere advocacy. It invites viewers to confront the profound ethical and moral questions surrounding the death penalty. The documentary's strength lies in its unflinching examination of the system's flaws and its exploration of the human cost, making it a vital, albeit somber, watch for anyone interested in the complexities of justice and the finality of state-sanctioned execution.
