IMPERIAL JAPAN: THE OLDEST HEREDITARY MONARCHY IN THE WORLD

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the profound history of Japan's Imperial family, asserting its status as the world's oldest hereditary monarchy, with roots tracing back to the 6th century BC. Despite its ancient lineage, the monarchy has navigated significant modern challenges. The narrative touches upon recent controversies, including personal scandals and the inherent complexities of a hereditary system, even extending to biological considerations. It poses a thought-provoking question about the endurance of tradition in the face of inevitable change. The film offers a compelling examination of how such an venerable institution adapts, or struggles to adapt, in the contemporary world, prompting reflection on what remains when the foundations of tradition are themselves subject to flux.
