IMPACT!

Cinemavixion Review

Arthur Lubin's 1949 film noir, 'Impact!', presents a gripping tale of betrayal and mistaken identity, anchored by a compelling performance from Brian Donlevy. The narrative, which aligns closely with the synopsis provided, delves into the dark machinations of an unfaithful wife and her lover, whose plot for murder takes an unexpected turn. The film masterfully crafts suspense as Donlevy's character, presumed dead, navigates a world that believes him gone, while his wife faces the consequences of a crime not entirely as it seems. Ella Raines adds a layer of complexity as the wife entangled in the scheme. With its noir sensibilities and a plot that keeps audiences guessing, 'Impact!' offers a potent exploration of greed, deception, and the long reach of consequence, making it a noteworthy entry in the genre.
