Kerry Bellessa's 'Immanence' plunges viewers into a disquieting voyage where the boundaries between science, faith, and the unknown violently collide. The film masterfully sets its stage aboard a boat en route to the Bermuda Triangle, a locale steeped in mystery, as four radio astronomers pursue a signal from deep space. Their mission takes an unexpected theological turn with the presence of Captain Jonah, a devout Christian who perceives extraterrestrial phenomena through the lens of divine or infernal intervention. This fascinating juxtaposition between scientific rationalism and fervent belief fuels the narrative's escalating tension. As inexplicable events unfold, including a spectral duplicate of their own vessel and the chilling manifestation of a prophecy, the crew's skepticism is eroded, forcing them to confront whether they've discovered alien life or awakened something far more sinister.
