IMITATION GIRL

Cinemavixion Review

Natasha Kermani's "Imitation Girl" presents a compelling and introspective journey into the nature of identity and existence. Anchored by a truly remarkable dual performance from Lauren Ashley Carter, the film intricately weaves the narratives of an alien entity on Earth and its human counterpart, Julianna. Carter masterfully navigates the subtle distinctions and profound similarities between these two women, embodying both the alien's burgeoning understanding of human emotion and Julianna's world-weary struggles. The film delves into themes of loneliness, the search for meaning, and the inherent strangeness of the human experience with a quiet intensity. While the external data indicates a 2017 release and a strong critical reception, including an 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the core of the film's power lies in its thoughtful script and Carter's mesmerizing portrayal, making it a standout piece of independent science fiction that lingers long after the credits roll.
