I'M NO DUMMY

Cinemavixion Review

“I’m No Dummy” emerges as a surprisingly insightful documentary, delving into the often-underestimated art of ventriloquism. The film masterfully weaves together historical context with contemporary insights, featuring interviews with luminaries such as Jay Johnson, Jeff Dunham, and Lynn Trefzger. It chronicles the evolution of this unique performance art, from the golden age of Edgar Bergen to the modern-day innovations and challenges faced by its practitioners. The narrative explores the technical wizardry, the comedic timing, and the sheer dedication required to bring inanimate objects to life, offering a compelling look at the personalities both on and off the stage. The inclusion of archival footage and performance clips enriches the viewing experience, making it a must-watch for anyone interested in the hidden artistry behind the laughter and the voices that aren't their own.
