I'M IN LOVE WITH A CHURCH GIRL

Cinemavixion Review

Steve Race's 'I'm in Love with a Church Girl' offers a compelling, albeit uneven, exploration of redemption and faith set against the backdrop of a former drug kingpin's struggle to go straight. Ja Rule delivers a performance that navigates the complexities of Miles Montego's past and present, particularly as he finds himself drawn to the spiritual Vanessa. The film attempts to balance gritty street narratives with themes of divine intervention and personal transformation. While the critical reception, as indicated by a 10% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 4.2 IMDb rating, suggests a divisive outcome, the film's ambition in tackling such profound subject matter, bolstered by a cast including Michael Madsen and Martin Kove, is noteworthy. It stands as a testament to the power of faith and the arduous journey toward a reformed life, even if its execution doesn't always meet its lofty aspirations.
