IL RAS DEL QUARTIERE

Cinemavixion Review

Carlo Vanzina's 1983 comedy "Il ras del quartiere" offers a quintessential slice of Italian humor, anchored by a strong performance from Diego Abatantuono. Set against the backdrop of Milan, the film follows a desperate father who enlists the help of Domingo, the charismatic "Ras" of the neighborhood, in a search for his missing daughter. The plot, while simple, serves as a vehicle for Vanzina's characteristic blend of social observation and light-hearted absurdity. Abatantuono, who also co-wrote the screenplay, embodies the titular character with a compelling mix of street smarts and underlying vulnerability. Despite its modest IMDb rating of 6.0/10, the film remains a notable entry in the Italian comedy genre of the era, appreciated for its authentic portrayal of Milanese life and its engaging central performance.
