ボルゴロッソ・フットボール・クラブ会長 | IL PRESIDENTE DEL BORGOROSSO FOOTBALL CLUB

Cinemavixion Review

Alberto Sordi delivers a masterful performance in Luigi Filippo D'Amico's "Il presidente del Borgorosso Football Club" (1970), a film that humorously delves into the passionate, often absurd, world of Italian football fandom. Sordi portrays Benito Fornaciari, a man unexpectedly burdened with the stewardship of a struggling football club. What begins as an obligation quickly transforms into an all-consuming obsession, as Fornaciari sheds his former life for the thrill of the game, the camaraderie of the players, and the local delights that come with his new role. The film expertly captures the societal impact of football in Italy, using Sordi's signature blend of comedy and pathos to explore themes of identity, community, and the intoxicating power of sport. While perhaps not as widely recognized internationally as some of Sordi's other works, this film remains a charming and insightful look at the heart of a football supporter, offering both laughs and a poignant reflection on devotion.
