IF I SHOULD DIE BEFORE I WAKE

Cinemavixion Review

Eric Luis Ayala's 'If I Should Die Before I Wake' offers a compelling, albeit somber, exploration of hidden desires and their devastating consequences. The film centers on Brian Edwards, a man seemingly content with his domestic life, who finds himself irresistibly drawn to a forbidden connection that threatens to unravel everything he holds dear. The narrative skillfully navigates the internal conflict of its protagonist, portraying a man wrestling with his past and the burgeoning feelings he has long suppressed. The performances, particularly from Lyndrez Leslie, Maalik Evans, and TL Leigh, ground the drama in raw emotion, making Brian's struggle palpable. While the film delves into mature themes, it does so with a sensitivity that allows for a nuanced examination of temptation and the high price of succumbing to it. 'If I Should Die Before I Wake' is a poignant character study that lingers long after the credits roll.
