IF I CAN'T HAVE YOU

Cinemavixion Review

Peter Poulos and Matthew Santia's 2022 dark comedy psychological thriller, "IF I CAN'T HAVE YOU," offers a compelling, albeit niche, exploration of the therapist-patient dynamic pushed to its unnerving limits. Starring Brian Boynton, Isaac Clark, and Todd Calvin De Pew, the film delves into the psyche of a psychotherapist whose professional life becomes entangled with the disturbed minds of his clients. The narrative masterfully weaves elements of dark humor with genuine suspense, creating an atmosphere that is both darkly amusing and deeply unsettling. Garnering 4 wins and 2 nominations, the film has been recognized for its bold approach to genre conventions. While its runtime of 86 minutes suggests a tightly paced experience, the film's true strength lies in its sharp writing and the unsettling performances that explore the fragility of the human mind. With an IMDb rating of 7.8, "IF I CAN'T HAVE YOU" is a noteworthy addition for those seeking a thought-provoking thriller with a unique comedic edge.
