ICE PILOTS

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary series, 'Ice Pilots,' offers a compelling glimpse into the demanding world of Buffalo Airways, a Canadian airline renowned for its operation of World War II-era propeller planes. Set against the stark beauty of the Northwest Territories, the series follows a cast of seasoned and rookie pilots as they navigate extreme conditions, including temperatures of minus 40 degrees, and contend with the unique challenges of landing on remote tundra strips. The narrative weaves together personal stories, such as a pilot's milestone 50th flying anniversary and a daughter's participation in a cancer fundraiser, with the high-stakes reality of aerial firefighting. Viewers are treated to the thrill of emergency callouts and the ingenuity required to keep these historic aircraft in the air. It's a fascinating look at a niche but vital aspect of aviation, celebrating the resilience and skill of those who fly in one of the world's most unforgiving environments.
