I, PSYCHOPATH

Cinemavixion Review

"I, Psychopath" offers a raw and unflinching look into the mind of Sam Vaknin, a self-proclaimed narcissist grappling with the possibility of psychopathy. Directed by Ian Walker, this documentary plunges viewers into Vaknin's personal journey as he undergoes rigorous testing, including the PCL-R and MRI scans, to confront his own psyche. The film masterfully navigates the complex ethical and psychological terrain, bolstered by the candid presence of Vaknin and his wife, Lidija. Vaknin's volatile interactions with the filmmakers, marked by sharp intellect and biting verbal abuse, create a compelling, albeit uncomfortable, viewing experience. It is a daring exploration of identity and self-perception, challenging the audience to consider the labels we assign and the truths they may conceal. The narrative unfolds with a gonzo-esque energy, making it a truly unforgettable, head-trip of a film.
