I AM NOT A HIPSTER

Cinemavixion Review

Destin Daniel Cretton's "I Am Not a Hipster" offers a poignant glimpse into the vibrant San Diego indie music and art scene, exploring the delicate balance between creativity and personal tragedy. Released in 2012, the film stars Dominic Bogart, Alvaro Orlando, and Tammy Minoff as artists navigating the complexities of their creative lives amidst challenging circumstances. While the film garnered a nomination and received a respectable 71% on Rotten Tomatoes, its 6.6 IMDb rating suggests a more divided critical reception, with Metacritic scoring it at 53/100. Despite its modest box office presence (N/A), "I Am Not a Hipster" stands as a testament to Cretton's emerging directorial voice, promising a compelling watch for those drawn to character-driven narratives and the intersection of art and life.
