I AM MINE ALONE

Cinemavixion Review

Richard Douglas Jensen's "I Am Mine Alone" offers a poignant narrative of resilience and self-discovery. The film follows an Afghan woman who, after escaping the Taliban's oppression, seeks refuge and a new beginning in Alabama. Jensen masterfully crafts a story that explores the profound challenges of displacement, cultural assimilation, and the arduous journey toward reclaiming one's identity and independence. Zina Torab delivers a powerful performance, embodying the protagonist's quiet strength and unwavering determination against a backdrop of prejudice and unfamiliarity. The film sensitively portrays the internal and external battles faced by refugees, making it a compelling watch that resonates with themes of hope and the universal human desire for freedom and dignity.
