"Hunt the Wicked" plunges viewers into the gritty underbelly of a city teeming with corruption and drug trafficking. At its core is the intense cat-and-mouse game between anti-narcotics officer Huang Mingjin and the enigmatic Wei Yunzhou. Director Suiqiang Huo orchestrates a narrative of mutual calculation and confrontation, where every move is a gamble and every alliance is suspect. The film, starring Xie Miao and An Zhijie, masterfully unravels a complex web of deceit, exposing the shadowy figures orchestrating a city-wide drug network. While the plot might tread familiar ground in the crime thriller genre, the execution is commendable, keeping the audience engaged as justice, personified by the protagonists, relentlessly pursues the darkness. With a runtime of 102 minutes, "Hunt the Wicked" delivers a taut action experience that culminates in a satisfying, albeit hard-won, victory for law and order, offering a ray of light after a descent into the abyss.
