HUNT FOR U-479 - EPISODE 2

Cinemavixion Review

This second episode of 'Hunt For U-479' plunges viewers into a compelling maritime mystery. Following two Finnish filmmakers and a dedicated team of international divers, the narrative seeks to unravel the truth behind the disappearance of a WWII German U-boat, the U-479, in the Gulf of Finland in November 1944. While Soviet accounts attribute its sinking to the submarine Lembit, the official explanation has long been met with skepticism, prompting this investigative expedition. The documentary expands its scope beyond the U-479, delving into the tragic sinking of the Wilhelm Gustloff, historically the largest maritime disaster, and the exploration of the Steuben wreck in the Baltic Sea by Swedish divers. Further intrigue is added with a visit to a Russian submarine in former East Germany and explorations around Estonia's Hiiumaa Island, including a journey to old Soviet bunkers. This installment promises a rich blend of historical investigation, underwater adventure, and exploration of Cold War remnants.
