HOWL FROM BEYOND THE FOG

Cinemavixion Review

Daisuke Sato's "Howl from Beyond the Fog" transports viewers to the Meiji era, offering a unique blend of folklore and environmental commentary. The narrative centers on Takiri, a visually impaired young woman, and Nebula, a mysterious creature, who unite to protect their ancestral land from avaricious developers. This poignant tale delves into themes of nature versus industry, and the courage found in unlikely alliances. While the film's visual style and specific mythological elements are central to its charm, the performances of Suguru Inoue, Michiyo Ishimoto, and Akane Kanamori ground the fantastical elements with emotional authenticity. "Howl from Beyond the Fog" is a compelling story that resonates with its plea for preservation and the strength of the human-spirit in the face of overwhelming odds.
