HOW THE MAFIA HAS TURNED SOUTHERN ITALY INTO A TOXIC WASTELAND

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a grim and unflinching look at the devastating environmental and human cost of the mafia's illegal toxic waste operations in Southern Italy. The film meticulously details an industry worth billions, where legitimate businesses opt for the mafia's illicit services, prioritizing profit over ecological and public health. The narrative highlights the systemic failures that allowed this practice to flourish for decades, with minimal penalties contributing to widespread pollution of land and water. The consequence is a harrowing reality: alarmingly high rates of childhood cancer and dangerously toxic air, painting a stark picture of a region suffocated by organized crime's disregard for life. It serves as a crucial, albeit disturbing, exposé on environmental crime and its profound societal impact.
