HOW ONE OF AMERICA'S MOST FEARED GANGSTERS HELPED WIN WW2 | WARTIME CRIME

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the surprising and complex role of New York mafia boss Charles 'Lucky' Luciano during World War II. Moving beyond his notorious criminal past and a lengthy prison sentence, the film uncovers a clandestine wartime alliance. It highlights an agreement, brokered with his associate Meyer Lansky, where Luciano’s mob provided crucial naval intelligence to the Allied forces. This collaboration purportedly played a significant role in undermining Mussolini's regime in Italy. The narrative explores the intersection of organized crime and national interest, questioning the moral ambiguities of wartime necessity and the unlikely figures who can influence historical outcomes. It’s a fascinating examination of how power dynamics shifted and how even figures from the underworld could find themselves on a peculiar side of history.
