HOW MANY LIVES?: IMPACTS OF GUN VIOLENCE

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a poignant and deeply personal look at the pervasive issue of gun violence in America, as seen through the eyes of young artists. "How Many Lives?" centers on 25 students from Jersey City, NJ, who channel their fears, emotions, and thoughts into a monumental 180-foot mural. Under the guidance of fine artists Duda Penteado (who also directs) and Catherine Hart, these students confront the human toll exacted by a gun culture that has become tragically ingrained in the nation's fabric. The film delves into their artistic process as they depict a range of well-publicized killings and mass murders, both local and national, creating a powerful visual testament to the lives lost and the enduring impact of such tragedies. It's a compelling exploration of art as a form of catharsis and a potent means of social commentary, giving voice to a generation grappling with immense societal challenges.
