HOW HERNÁN CORTÉS OVERTHREW THE MIGHTY AZTEC EMPIRE

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a compelling narrative of Hernán Cortés's audacious campaign against the Aztec Empire. Beginning with his arrival in the vibrant Imperial City of Tenochtitlan in 1519, the film meticulously details Cortés's strategic brilliance in forging alliances and exploiting political divisions among local rulers, notably Moctezuma. The ensuing conflict is portrayed with a keen eye for the ebb and flow of battle, including the dramatic initial setbacks and the eventual, hard-won victory after a prolonged siege. Beyond the military engagements, the documentary underscores the devastating impact of disease, particularly smallpox, and warfare in the ultimate downfall of this ancient civilization, providing a nuanced perspective on the complex factors that led to the Spanish conquest.
