HOW DID THE MAFIA IMPACT THE OUTCOME OF WORLD WAR 2? | SECRET WAR | TIMELINE

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary from Timeline delves into a fascinating, often overlooked aspect of World War II: the significant, albeit clandestine, influence of the Mafia. It chronicles the remarkable story of Charles 'Lucky' Luciano, a notorious gangster who, from behind bars, managed to forge a strategic alliance with the Allied forces. The narrative skillfully pieces together how this unexpected partnership, particularly concerning the invasion of Italy, may have tipped the scales of the war. The film sheds light on the complex moral ambiguities and pragmatic decisions made during wartime, presenting a compelling case for the Mob's pivotal, if unsung, role in the Allied victory. It’s a thought-provoking exploration of power, loyalty, and the hidden currents that shape historical events.
