HOUSE OF PURGATORY

Cinemavixion Review

Tyler Christensen's 'House of Purgatory' offers a chilling descent into a Halloween attraction that transcends mere frights to become a deeply personal psychological ordeal. The film masterfully crafts an atmosphere where a haunted house becomes a mirror, reflecting the darkest secrets of its teenage protagonists. As the structure systematically exploits their individual fears and regrets, the narrative builds a palpable sense of dread. The performances effectively convey the escalating terror and desperation of characters trapped not just by walls, but by their own pasts. While the premise might seem familiar, Christensen's execution, focusing on the psychological torment rather than gratuitous gore, provides a compelling and unsettling viewing experience. It's a thoughtful exploration of guilt and consequence, wrapped in the guise of a classic haunted house tale, making it a noteworthy entry for fans of atmospheric horror.
