HOOLOCK GIBBONS: GRASPING THE LAST BRANCH

Cinemavixion Review

Elliot Hamioff's documentary, "Hoolock Gibbons: Grasping the Last Branch," presents a stark and urgent portrait of a species teetering on the precipice of oblivion. The film meticulously documents the devastating impact of habitat destruction on Bangladesh's Hoolock Gibbon population, a once-thriving species now reduced to a mere couple of hundred individuals. Through compelling visuals and a somber narrative, Hamioff underscores the critical state of these primates, highlighting how even protected forest reserves have fallen victim to deforestation. This documentary serves as a poignant call to action, urging viewers to confront the ecological crisis threatening the Hoolock Gibbons and, by extension, the biodiversity of Bangladesh. It is a vital piece of filmmaking that sheds necessary light on a critical conservation issue.
