HOLLYWOOD VARIETIES

Cinemavixion Review

In "Hollywood Varieties" (1950), director Paul Landres captures the spirit of a bygone era, bringing vaudeville back to life in the nascent age of television. Hosted by the charismatic Robert Alda, who also lends his voice to the charming "Be There My Love," the film showcases a vibrant array of talent. Audiences are treated to performances by the comedic Hoosier Hot Shots, the unique Sandy and His Seals, the lively Hector and His Pals, the synchronized Four Dandies, and the agile Twirl, Whirl and a Girl. This cinematic time capsule offers a delightful glimpse into the enduring appeal of variety entertainment, resurrected for a new medium.
