HOLLYWOOD MY HOME TOWN

Cinemavixion Review

This fascinating compilation, "Hollywood My Home Town," offers an unparalleled, intimate glimpse into the Golden Age of Hollywood, curated from the personal 16mm collection of actor Ken Murray. Arriving in 1927, Murray’s lens captured an extraordinary array of stars—from the towering presence of John Barrymore to the charm of Charlie Chaplin and the burgeoning careers of others. Narrated by Murray himself, the film transcends a mere collection of clips, becoming a heartfelt tribute to his adopted hometown and the personalities who shaped it. The inclusion of music by Oscar winner George Stoll further elevates this documentary, providing a rich auditory backdrop to the visual history. It’s a rare opportunity to witness Hollywood not as a fabricated dream, but as a lived-in reality, seen through the eyes of one of its own.
